Director's Note

Hello Bulldogs!

My name is Briana Mesa and I am so excited to join the Elevate MS team as the School Director. I have worked in education for 15 years and this is my 5th year with DSST. I was formally a Dean of Students at our College View Middle School and an Associate School Director and School Director in Training at our Montview Middle School campus. I am so excited to partner with you and our high school team to develop an awesome 6-10 (eventually 6-12) experience.

Last week, we talked about our dismissal procedures. Today, I would love to highlight our arrival protocols. Morning adult supervision starts at the middle school at 7:30 when doors open. Middle school students are welcomed in and directed to grab breakfast and head to advisory. Our tardy bell rings at 7:45. Students arriving at or after 7:45 are considered tardy. High school adult supervision starts at 7:45 am. The high school tardy bell rings at 8:00 am. Students arriving at or after 8:05 am are considered tardy. We currently have an average of 50 students tardy per day at the middle school and 30 students tardy per day at the high school. That is too many! Our goal is to have less than 10 students tardy per day, but we need your help. Arriving to school on time is absolutely imperative to setting students up for success. We have specific procedures in place first thing in the morning across our campus to help ensure that students are ready for the day that they miss if they are even a few minutes late. We are here to support and partner with your family to help ensure that students are here on time daily.
