Upcoming Events

 

Family Dinner 3/15

On Tuesday, 3/15, we are planning to hold our Math Family Dinner that was postposed in December.  Because it is one day after Pi Day, we would like to celebrate with a pie contest and FUN math activities.  Prizes for the winning pies. 

 

Family Drug and Alcohol Workshops

The District, in partnership with other agencies, offers tons of drug and alcohol informational workshops and services.  Click on this link to learn more.

 

 

Instructional Highlights

 

ELA units

The upcoming units for ELA are:

-         6th Grade – American Indian Boarding Schools, students are reading “Two Roads”

-         7th Grade – The Harlem Renaissance, the novel is “One Last Word”

-         8th Grade – Voices of the Holocaust, students will read “Maus”

 

7th Grade Science

Students will be learning about cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems through a unit about healing.  Students will be doing chicken wing dissections on Monday and Tuesday. 

 

 

Progress toward our yearly goals

Despite some protestation at the beginning, students are settling into the math and ELA curricula.  Students are showing a stronger grasp of the concepts which we hope to show on CMAS when we return from break.

 

Moore Middle School Parent/Teacher Organization!

Events the PTO is working on:

·        Upcoming school-wide fundraiser starting on 3/31, Moore Middle PTO will be selling popcorn and fun socks! The top 5 sellers and a friend will receive a Limo ride to Dairy Queen.

·        Teacher Appreciation week is May 2nd-6th. We're working hard on showing our teachers how much we appreciate them. If you'd like to help email the PTO or come to a meeting.

·        Harry Potter event of the summer...book club and movie night at Moore Middle School. June date TBD, but save the date for book 2 on July 9th and book 3 on August 6th. Our very own Ms. Rife (7th and 8th grade ELA Teacher) will be our book club leader.
