A Note from Mr. Budzynski
Happy New Year! Returning from the winter break, we have had several questions about the use of smart glasses in school. Smart glasses are often capable of recording video, playing music, answering calls, and more. Some of the glasses may include prescription lenses.
Because students are bringing this technology into the classroom, we need to be clear about appropriate use in a school setting. Just like smart watches should only be used as an analog watch, smart glasses should only be used as regular glasses.
If students choose to use the digital features of the glasses, that should only happen during the times when phones are allowed - during passing periods, high school lunch, and open blocks for upperclassmen. Using smart glasses or smart watches during class will result in the student being asked to put them in the classroom holding location until the end of class. At that time, they will be returned.
Please know that recording video or audio is never allowed during school hours, whether using a Chromebook, phone, smart glasses, or other device.
Also important to remember, standardized testing is coming in April. As per test requirements, smart glasses (including prescription), smart watches, and phones are all prohibited from testing environments. Please plan ahead to adjust during that time. Students with prescription smart glasses will be required to use an alternate pair of glasses during testing.
If you have questions, please reach out to me. Thank you!

Middle School Athletics Update:
Beginning next school year, Frontier Academy will no longer be part of the NPMLA (Northern Plains Middle Level Association) for middle school sports. We will be joining a new league, the Junior Patriot League (JPL), which will more closely align with our high school league.
A few important changes we want our community to be aware of:
- Admission will be charged for middle school games in accordance with JPL bylaws
- Adults: $5
- Seniors/Students: $4
- JPL will move away from grade-level teams in court sports and instead use A, B, C, and D-level teams (mixed grade levels).
- One change currently under discussion is the inclusion of 6th graders in all sports we offer. This is not finalized, but we want families to be aware that it is being considered.
- Our league teams: Frontier Academy, Brush, Weld Central, Platte Valley, Valley, Hemphill, Fort Lupton, Highland, and Wiggins.
More details, including finalized bylaws, will be shared as they become available. If you have questions, please reach out to Emily Fiscus at fiscuse@frontieracademy.net.
Attention Senior Parents: If your athlete plans to continue their athletic career at the next level, please notify Mrs. Fiscus as soon as possible. We will be hosting our College Signing Event on Wednesday, May 6th, from 3:30 to 5:30 PM. Additional information will be shared closer to the date.
