Our second executive session of the school year included an informative presentation on the details of our K-12 counseling services and concurrent enrollment opportunities through UNC and Aims. We are very excited about both of these programs, and we are very fortunate to have such a strong team of counselors available to help our students.

Construction continues to progress on the Press Box building at the secondary and we are excited to have it functional for the Homecoming activities this week.

Financial Audit is underway and we will present the findings at an upcoming board meeting.

Crosswalk Safety-Secondary Families

A Note From Mr. Pillard, Secondary Security

IMPORTANT - Secondary Campus:  It's essential that all students utilize the crosswalk during drop-off and pickup times.  Our staff regularly monitors the driveline to ensure students follow the rules in maintaining their safety before and after school.  Our number one concern: Nobody should be crossing the road (driveline), other than the designated crosswalk.  Crossing in hazardous areas can potentially cause an unfortunate situation for someone getting struck by a moving vehicle.  Parents who follow the same set of rules, not only set a great example for their own kids, but for other students as well, and we thank you for doing that.  So please have that conversation with your child and encourage them to use the crosswalk.  Thank you.

Dear Frontier Academy Community,

We are excited to announce that we will be recognizing a collection of history and heritage months during the school year. These months are intended to celebrate and learn about the contributions of different communities to our country and our world. At Frontier Academy, we are committed to elevating the stories of these movements and the voices of those involved. We intend to communicate these celebrations over email, by creating educational bulletin boards and including information in short announcements in order to empower the Frontier Academy community.

September 15-October 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month which is dedicated to celebrating the many achievements and contributions of the Latino community as well as their diverse cultures. Middle School and High School LULAC have been hard at work creating posters and artwork to elevate these voices and figures.

Please watch the announcements for upcoming LULAC events.

Secondary Parents

Arriving with your student next week, are their score reports that detail how they performed on last spring’s statewide assessments (CMAS), including tests in English Language Arts, Math, and Science for some.

If your student took the NWEA (MAP) test this fall, their score reports are also included. Additionally, 10th-12th grade students will be receiving their P/SAT scores.

Please be sure to check backpacks for those reports.

Take some time to review your child’s score and talk with your child and their teacher(s) about their progress.  If you do not receive your child's results, please contact 970-339-9153 for information on how to receive a copy.

Feel free to contact Mrs. Schmidt (schmidtj@frontieracademy.net) with any questions regarding CMAS or Mrs. Scribbick (scribbicks@frontieracademy.net) with any questions regarding P/SAT.

Thursday Food Bag Program
🍎🥦
A partnership with the Weld Food Bank- The Backpack Program provides food for children who are at risk for hunger over the weekend. Nearly half the students in Weld County qualify for free or reduced-priced meals. However, on Saturday and Sunday, those meals are inaccessible which makes these kids even more vulnerable to hunger.

Weld Food Bank works with school counselors at Frontier Academy to identify students who are in great need of food over the weekend. Volunteers fill the packs with child-friendly food including shelf-stable milk, juice, a high-protein meal, and three or four snacks.

Weld Food Bank then drops the packs at schools and the children take them home every Thursday.
